Koihime Musou Episode 05 ” Kannu Tries to Get Rid of a Monster”
Summary: While traveling through the woods, Aisha, Sei, and Rinrin meet a girl being terrorized by bandits. They rescue her and she identifies herself as Tonton (Dong Zhuo). They escort her to the nearby village that is currently being subjected to the whims of a monster. The monster is rumored to have all kinds of appearances, and Rinrin quickly volunteers everyone to help the village get rid of it. They travel to where it’s supposed to be staying and find that the monster is in fact a girl who is very skilled in battle. She has been ransoming the village for food to feed all the stray dogs she is fostering. She identifies herself as Ryofu Housen (Lu Bu), and has inhuman strength. Even combined, the three girls can’t defeat her. When Tonton wanders into the battle is almost crushed by a tree, they save her, and Ryofu declares that she cannot fight good people. (The particular dog shown is the character Red Hare)
A green-haired girl with glasses appears, saying her name is Kaku “Ei” Bunwan, a servant to Tonton who is actually the lord of the area, Toutaku Yue. She decides to take all the dogs into her care at the palace and have Ryofu train them to be police guard dogs to help deal with the crime in the area.
Thoughts: Well this episode is pretty disappointing after such a unique episode last time! It was pretty dull all around, especially when the motivational plot twist is robbing a village for stray dogs. I’m wondering if compassion for animals is a more popular motivator in Japan, seeing as this is the second show where bad things happen to people for the sake of helping animals. I remember and episode in the first season of Jigoku Shoujo where a girl sends a veterinarian to Hell because he let her dog die by choosing to help a celebrity’s dog first. I don’t disagree that it’s wrong, but sending a person to hell or robbing villagers? As a plus though, there was a rather sexy picture of Ryofu after the ending credits.
