Zero no Tsukaima ~Princess no Rondo~ Episode 10: “Path to the Border”

Summary: The group managed to escape prison but are still stuck in town as the guard has been upped to search for them. They decide to split into groups, one as a diversion while the second group heads to Galia. Jan, Siesta, and two other students decide to recapture the Ostrant and head towards Germania, attracting the attention of the guards. In their attempt to take the Ostrant, Agnes sees that Colbert-sensei is still alive and becomes furious. They manage to get away with the Ostrant anyhow, with Agnes and the military in pursuit. Queen Henrietta is distraught.

Saitou, Louise, Kirche and the others borrow some circus clothes from Jessica and her uncle. They head towards the border disguised. They narrowily make it through a border check and head on their trip to Galia.

Tabitha continues to read to her mother, believing her capture is punishment for betraying Saitou. Joseph and his familiar are onto the upcoming arrival of Saitou and Co. Joseph decides to let them come, saying that Tabitha might like some visitors before her inevitable end. His familiar takes him back to a room where a giant beast appears to be in the process of being created, according to the plan.

Thoughts: I wonder how Louise and Henrietta’s relationship will make it out of this, and if Louise will regain her aristocrat status. Henrietta’s cautiousness and actions in this season has really caused me to lose favor for her as a character. I remember her being much stronger in season two. Joseph, meanwhile, is making all the mistakes of a stupid villain. He’s letting any progress against him slide by putting all his faith in some stereotypical super weapon he has in the works. This has been used a million times and it never works.

I’m not sure how much this season is deviating from the novels. I know a lot of people said the second season deviated quite a bit, but I’m not familiar with them enough to know. At the end of season one, Tabitha was the holder of a super powerful ring. It’s never made a reappearance, but I can’t help but wonder where it is.
