Kannagi Episode 05: “Discovery! Love the Dining Table God”


Summary: Nagi, through visiting the school, managed to accumlate a following of students that is, in turn, increasing her powers. Zange is quite bothered by this since their followings are now overlapping. Nagi has managed to avoid the teachers but eventually is spotted by the school counselor, Hakua’s father. He’s the head of religious studies and immediately recognizes that Nagi is something supernatural. He wants his daughter back, no longer inhabited by Zange. Nagi agrees to help, and promises not to hurt the students. Because of this, he’s able to talk the principal into allowing her to enter the school on scholarship instead of banning her from the premises. Zange decides to continue to pursue Jin, but it might be to spite Nagi and please Hakua more than anything else.

Thoughts: This episode was really good, not just in comedy but in plot as well. We meet Hakua’s dad for the first time, and so far the last time, unfortunately. The plot that seemed to be starting about getting Zange out of Hakua’s body hasn’t gone anywhere since this episode, but it isn’t stopping the show from entertaining me.
